First presented by the Bauer Type Foundry in 1928, Futura is commonly considered the major typeface development to come out of the Constructivist orientation of the Bauhaus movement in Germany.

Paul Renner (type designer, painter, author and teacher) sketched the original drawings and based them loosely on the simple forms of circle, triangle and square. The design office at Bauer assisted him in turning these geometric forms into a sturdy, functioning type family, and over time, Renner made changes to make the Futura fonts even more legible.

Futura’s long ascenders and descenders benefit from generous line spacing. The range of weights and styles make it a versatile family. Futura is timelessly modern; in 1928 it was striking, tasteful, radical — and today it continues to be a popular typographic choice to express strength, elegance, and conceptual clarity.

The true origins of Futura never die; recently there has been new focus on the famous typeface in numerous publications, events and exhibitions. The book Futura, une Gloire Typographique has found worldwide acclaim and the city of Frankfurt, the cradle of the Bauersche Giesserei, as well as the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, organized two exhibitions in 2016, in the honor of Futura.

Futura PT

Futura was designed for Bauer company in 1927 by Paul Renner. This is a sans serif face based on geometrical shapes, representative of the aesthetics of the Bauhaus school of the 1920s-30s. Issued by the Bauer Foundry in a wide range of weights and widths, Futura became a very popular choice for text and display setting.

Originally Cyrillic version of eight styles was developed at ParaType (ParaGraph) in 1995 by Vladimir Yefimov. Additional Cyrillic styles were developed in 2007 by Isabella Chaeva. Simultaneously, the old eight styles were partly revised to match the whole family.

Architype Renner

The geometry of Paul Renner’s sans letterforms was tempered by optical correction to follow earlier typeface proportions, with capitals close to old-style forms, yet still retaining the spirit of the New Typography. His early experimental characters were included as alternatives in the sans which was to become the Futura released by Bauer in 1927–30. Unusually, old style figures also appeared in his early versions but they too were soon discarded.

Foundry Architype Renner as a new four weight family has been developed from the original Renner Regular and Bold, created by The Foundry for the first Architype Collections in the early 1990s. This new family features the old style figures and the experimental elements.

Renner Book

Renner* is a font for the digital age. It’s based off of the work of Paul Renner, the designer of Futura. Renner* is an original font that aims to keep the attitude of Futura rather than the exact design. Futura was designed to be functional in its day and in that spirit, Renner* aims to be as functional as possible in the digital era. For that reason it deviates from the exact designs of Paul Renner, favoring, for example, a larger x-height.

It also includes features, many of which would not be possible in the era of Paul Renner. Renner* has 9 weights, ranging from Hairline to Black. It can support many languages, includes stylistic alternatives, and both tabular and proportional numbers.

Century Gothic

Century Gothic™ is based on Monotype 20th Century, which was drawn by Sol Hess between 1936 and 1947. Century Gothic maintains the basic design of 20th Century but has an enlarged x-height and has been modified to ensure satisfactory output from modern digital systems. The design is influenced by the geometric style sans serif faces which were popular during the 1920s and 30s. The Century Gothic font family is useful for headlines and general display work and for small quantities of text, particularly in advertising.

The Century Gothic family has been extended to 14 weights in a Pan-European character set from Thin to Black and their Italics.

Twentieth Century

Twentieth Century is a geometric sans-serif typeface designed by Sol Hess for Lanston Monotype in 1937. It was created as a competitor to the successful Futura typeface for Monotype’s hot metal typesetting system. Like Futura it has a single-story ‘ɑ’ and a straight ‘j’ with no bend.

A very large font family, Twentieth Century is particularly known for a limited range of styles being bundled with many Microsoft products such as Office. Numerous other variants exist, including versions for very small text and an Art Deco-influenced titling capitals design, Twentieth Century Poster, with rounded capitals.

Unified

Unified is a great quality geometric sans serif font, this font has a touch from century gothic, futura etc. popular fonts.

You can use this font for personal purposes.

Red Hat Display

Red Hat is a family of typefaces produced in 2 optical sizes, in a range of weights with italics. The fonts were originally commissioned by Paula Scher, Pentagram and designed by Jeremy Mickel, MCKL for the new Red Hat identity.

Red Hat is a fresh take on the geometric sans genre, taking inspiration from a range of American sans serifs including Tempo and Highway Gothic. The Display styles are low contrast and spaced tightly, with a large x-height and open counters. The Text styles have a slightly smaller x-height and narrower width for better legibility, are spaced more generously, and have thinned joins for better performance at small sizes. The two families can be used together seamlessly at a range of sizes.
